Kingdom Wisdom Part 5 Discussion Guide

This discussion guide is based on Kingdom Wisdom Part 5, preached at Keys Vineyard. In Matthew 7:9–12, Jesus connects the goodness of the Father with the Golden Rule: because God gives good gifts, His people are called to actively do good to others.

Summary

Jesus teaches that the Father is good, generous, and trustworthy. He gives good gifts to those who ask Him. Matthew 7:12 begins with the word “so,” connecting the Father’s goodness to the way His people live: “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.”

The Golden Rule is more than avoiding harm. Kingdom love takes initiative. It asks not only, “How can I avoid making things worse?” but also, “How can I make things better?” Jesus calls us to change places with others—to consider how we would hope to be treated before we speak, criticize, assume motives, repeat information, or respond to someone’s failure. We give kindness, grace, mercy, patience, and forgiveness because we have first received them from God.

Before one important interaction this week, pause and ask:

If I were in their place, how would I hope to be treated?
Father, help me treat them the way I would want to be treated.

Then do the next right thing. You may need to listen carefully, encourage someone, forgive, tell the truth gently, offer help, give another chance, or notice someone you would normally walk past. Do not try to change the whole world in one week; look for the person God places in front of you.
