Using My Prayers
The My Prayers section within Sacred Rhythms was created to provide a quiet and guided space for prayer, attentiveness, and honest conversation with God. For many people, prayer can sometimes feel intimidating or difficult. Some may feel unsure what to say. Others may feel distracted, overwhelmed, or spiritually exhausted. My Prayers was designed to help remove some of that pressure by offering gentle prompts that guide users through prayer in a simple and accessible way.
The guided prayer experience draws heavily from the structure and themes of the Lord’s Prayer. Jesus did not simply give His followers words to repeat. He gave them a pattern for prayer. Each section of the guided prayer helps users reflect on important movements within the Christian life. Users are invited to reflect on God’s presence, surrender, guidance, forgiveness, daily needs, peace, protection, and gratitude while learning to pray honestly and attentively.
One of the goals of My Prayers is to help people move beyond simply completing prayers and instead begin developing rhythms of attentiveness before God. Some users may spend only a few minutes in prayer. Others may linger much longer. Both are completely acceptable. The purpose is not perfection or performance. The purpose is openness, honesty, and attentiveness to God’s presence throughout the day.
At the end of the guided prayer experience, users can optionally send a copy of their prayers to themselves through email. This allows people to revisit their prayers later while avoiding the need for complicated accounts or login systems. Over time, My Prayers becomes less about completing a task and more about developing a steady rhythm of conversation with God. Prayer is not simply about speaking. It is also about learning to listen.
