Church Health Survey/Assessment

Church Encourager - Church Health Survey

This is the sixth article in a series about church consulting that we are presenting on our Church Encourager platform. In this article we are talking about church health surveys and/or assessments.

A church health survey/assessment is a helpful tool that will give you information on the overall health of your church. For the most part, this is accomplished by having a sampling of your church members answer a number of questions. By calculating their numeric responses a report can be developed that provides helpful information which can assist you in moving your church towards greater health.

An important factor to consider is that the survey/assessment can really only tell you your members’ perception of your church. Of course, perception matters in church health as I believe what you really are looking for is to see what the perception of strengths and weaknesses in your church are. Then, you look at the top two or three weaknesses and start praying about how to make some improvements. Often, these weaknesses can be tweaked with less effort than imagined. You also want to consider how you can capitalize on your strengths.

There are many church health surveys/assessments available for you to choose from. There are some free ones which might be a great starting place for you. Two resources that you might want to check out are:
